Why we exist:
Virtually all of the world's coffee leaves its place of origin as raw material. The roasting process in the consumer countries is the largest markup in the value chain. This leads to an unfair distribution of profits.
Most of the money stays where we consume coffee and not where coffee is produced. That is not right.
- 90% of coffee producing countries still depend on financial aid.
- 99% of coffee is imported as raw material into consumer countries.
- 9-10 months are spent growing and processing coffee, while roasting takes a maximum of 15 minutes.
To date, only about 10-15% of the total value remains in the growing regions. By roasting in the coffee-producing countries, Coffee Annan regenerates the coffee chain. This means that about 50% remains in the growing countries.
In addition, the coffee in our range is mainly grown in agroforestry systems. This is good for soil health, biodiversity and water and air quality. Organic farming, clever roasting and what is probably the shortest supply chain in the coffee trade contribute significantly to CO2 savings.
