First, fold the seam of the filter paper and place it in the cone. Then pour hot water over it so that there is no unpleasant paper taste. Please pour away the water filtered in this way.

  1. Place the grounds in the center of the filter and heat the water to the ideal temperature of ± 197°F (92 °C).
  2. Now simply pour 40 to 50 ml of the water over the grounds. It is important that the water does not directly wet the filter.
  3. Allow the water to soak and “bloom” for 30 – 40 seconds.
  4. Carefully add the remaining hot water in a circular motion.

First-Class Coffee From the Chemex Glass Coffee Pot

If you prefer, you can also brew your iconic hot beverage with the classic Chemex coffee maker. All you need is:

  • 1 Chemex coffee maker
  • Chemex filter paper
  • 1 kettle
  • 1 set of scales
  • 1 grinder
  • 1 timer
  • 25 g medium coarse grounds
  • 350 ml boiling water: 190 -197 °F (88-92 °C)

Your Chemex Brew Guide

  1. First, grind your beans (choose a medium grind) and heat the water.
  2. Now fold the filter paper twice and place it in the coffee maker. Again, as stated above, always moisten the paper with hot water. This will prevent a papery taste. However, please remember to drain this water before the brewing process. Now carefully fill the grounds into the center of the Chemex.
  3. Then add 50 to 60 ml of the water so that it can “bloom”.
  4. Add another 100 ml of water every 30 seconds in a circular motion until the 350 ml is used up.
  5. The total brewing time is about 3:30 minutes.
  6. Enjoy your perfect cup!

Aeropress Instructions

In contrast to the two methods already presented, this is a fairly new variant. When preparing coffee with an Aeropress machine, the ground beans are pressed through a cylinder using a press piston. The air there ensures that the grounds are pushed through the filter and enter the cup. You will need:

  • 1 Aeropress
  • Aeropress filter paper
  • 1 grinder
  • 1 set of scales
  • 16 g medium / fine coffee grounds
  • 1 kettle
  • 200 ml filtered water

This Is How to Brew It

  1. First, grind your beans.
  2. Then insert the filter and rinse the Aeropress with warm water. This will prevent an undesirable paper taste. 3.
  3. Connect the press plunger and the brewing cylinder, and then insert the funnel. Now put the grounds into the funnel and pour the hot water into the Aeropress in circular movements (about 120 ml). The brewing temperature should be around 197°F (92 °C)
  4. Stir the mixture vigorously and let it brew for 30 to 60 seconds. Then add the remaining 200 ml of water and let the coffee brew for another 1.5 minutes. Finally, all you have to do is turn the Aeropress upside down and gently press the press plunger down.

Enjoy!

Making Cold Brew Coffee -The ultimate In-Drink

The days are long gone, when Cold Brew Coffee was only favored by trendy hipsters in the capitals of the world. But what's the fuss all about? The name “Cold Brew” stems from the fact that the beverage is prepared in cold water, at a temperature of between 53 and 76 °F

(12 and 24 °C). To brew this coffee yourself, you will need:

  • 1 Chemex coffee maker (or funnel).
  • 1 Chemex filter paper (or normal filter paper)
  • 100 g coarsely ground beans
  • 1000 ml water (room / refrigerator temperature)
  • 12 to 24 hours extraction time

This Is How It Works

  1. Simply put the ground beans into a large, sealable container and fill it with cold water.
  2. Put the container into the refrigerator and shake it occasionally.
  3. After 12-24 hours, you can extract the cold brew through a Chemex or a regular filter with filter paper.
  4. Your refreshing coffee drink is ready to be enjoyed!

The Stainless Steel Moka Pot From Italy – A True Classic

Especially after the indulgence of a big meal or something sweet, a strong espresso is hard to beat. Espresso from the Italian Bialetti machine is particularly popular. Here’s a brief brewing guide for an espresso with crema. You will need:

  • 1 Moka pot
  • 1 grinder (if necessary)
  • 15 g finely ground espresso
  • 1 kettle / stove
  • Filtered water

And this is how the espresso is prepared

  1. Heat the water to about 197°F (92°C).
  2. Pour enough water into the moka pot to completely cover the lower part.
  3. Now put the grounds into the device. Then place the espresso basket on the lower part of the pot (with the hot water).
  4. Place the moka pot on the stove and turn on a medium heat. The espresso is ready as soon as hissing sounds emerge from the upper valves.

Fine Coffee From the Portafilter

Another way to brew your own coffee is with a portafilter. A portafilter is a type of coffee maker that can usually brew only one cup at a time. The portafilter consists of a boiler, a steam nozzle and a filter holder, which contains a metal filter with a sieve.

For the preparation of a coffee with the portafilter, you will need:

  • 1 espresso machine
  • 20 g of ground coffee (finely ground) – or appropriate beans along with a grinder
  • 40 ml of boiling water

The total brewing time is ideally about 26-32 seconds.

Here’s the Exact Procedure

  1. Firstly, preheat the espresso machine.
  2. Then put the grounds into the portafilter, and lightly tap the edge of the portafilter so that they are ideally distributed. Our insider’s tip: treat yourself to a leveling tool!
  3. Now press the grounds into the portafilter with a metal tamper. Don't worry, this is easier than it may sound!
  4. Rinse your espresso machine with hot water before you start locking in the portafilter.
  5. After you have successfully locked it in place, the extraction process will begin. By the way, the espresso from the portafilter is ready in just under 26–32 seconds.

How to Make Coffee in an Automatic Coffee Maker

Is it even possible to brew aromatic, full-bodied coffee in a fully automatic coffee maker? The answer is yes! However, there are a few things you should bear in mind:

  • Buy freshly ground beans instead of pre-ground beans to achieve a particularly aromatic result. Naturally, it is even better to use your own coffee grinder.
  • If you choose this option, it is best to grind the beans directly before use, to ensure that aromas are released in the optimal way.
  • It is also considered useful to weigh the amount of coffee carefully, rather than simply using a spoon. After all, it's not only the weight of the coffee that matters, but also its volume.

Climate-Neutral Coffee Brewing

More and more people are asking themselves which coffee preparation method is most beneficial for the environment. If the hot beverage is prepared with a French Press or via Pour Over, the carbon footprint is much lower.

By the way, at Coffee Annan we not only ensure sustainable coffee beans, but we also offer the people who grow, harvest and roast the beans for us a real perspective for the future.
